On paper, buying an accounting suite from one vendor on one platform makes a lot of sense. You have a consistent user interface, one platform to support, and all the modules in the suite are integrated and designed to work together.
Except when they don’t.
The reality in the accounting world is the tax and audit suites aren’t as seamless as they should be. The suites were not designed from scratch to work together. The hard truth is most of the accounting suites available today are a group of individual modules (that your vendor acquired) cobbled together to create an end-to-end solution.
The impact on your Practice is you have to create workarounds for processes that really should be integrated. Things are not as streamlined or as easy as you really need.
Does this mean it’s time to rip and replace your tax or audit solutions and find something better? No. It would be too disruptive to your Practice and there isn’t a replacement solution that would be a significant upgrade.
There is another option. Make your current environment more integrated, streamlined and compliant.
